LONDON LIFE REVIEW

SHAMANIC CHANTS and INCENSE at PENTAMETERS THEATRE HAMPSTEAD

THE HERMETIC MARRIAGE is a bewitching musical and hypnotic search for wisdom and peace devised by The Butterfly Wheel – a young, beautiful and mysterious duo aka Alice Ancient (singer) and Moonchild (Composer and Performance Artist.) There are no real names for these performers in the programme, this is how they want to be known. Their choral storytelling is interpreted centre stage through mime and dance. On the further wing of the stage are another duo, the Monro family providing an echoing choral work. This duo is composed of Amy Rose Esdale and Craig Swan, Amy with a voice like Kate Melua and Craig, the double of a young George Harrison. This duo will go far indeed.

Alice Ancient is the strong unifying force behind the success of this show and the three week run in Hampstead ended last Sunday night to another packed house. I wish the company well on their planned European tour.
