LONDON LIFE REVIEW

SHAMANIC CHANTS and INCENSE at PENTAMETERS THEATRE HAMPSTEAD

THE HERMETIC MARRIAGE is a bewitching musical and hypnotic search for wisdom and peace devised by The Butterfly Wheel – a young, beautiful and mysterious duo aka Alice Ancient (singer) and Moonchild (Composer and Performance Artist.) There are no real names for these performers in the programme, this is how they want to be known. Their choral storytelling is interpreted centre stage through mime and dance. On the further wing of the stage are another duo, the Monro family providing an echoing choral work. This duo is composed of Amy Rose Esdale and Craig Swan, Amy with a voice like Kate Melua and Craig, the double of a young George Harrison. This duo will go far indeed.

Alice Ancient is the strong unifying force behind the success of this show and the three week run in Hampstead ended last Sunday night to another packed house. I wish the company well on their planned European tour.

catch her @ Daylight Music in the Union Chapel today lunchtime .. it’s the last one of 2012 and looks set to be among the best of this season’s offerings..if you are anywhere near Islington and are free between 12 and 2 ..get yourself along ! The music and the tea and cakes will warm you, but we’d still suggest thermals ..it can be quite chilly indoors!

M4ncave Sessions – Luke Jackson – Fare Thee Well Become a fan of Luke Jackson on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lukepauljackson?fref=ts

Ursula O’Reilly Traynor‘s insight:

There’s something about Luke that makes him stand out.

He’s still absurdly young for a musician with such assurance, such passion and professionalism. A seeker of perfection. Primarily a singer of his own material, this cover is a great fit for a voice already showing a mature suggestion of a great musical future. Not one to pigeonhole either.
